Jones Farrar Elementary

Jones-Farrar, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, received authorization as an IB World School in June 2013 and offers the IB Primary Years Programme. The school accepts students in Grades K-6 through an annual application process conducted each January.

IB World Schools share a common philosophy and a dedication to providing high-quality and challenging international education, which Jones-Farrar considers crucial for our students. Maintaining authorization status entails continuous preparation, reflection, and professional development for staff. An IB authorization team revisits the school every five years to ensure the curriculum remains rigorous and globally focused.

At the core of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum lie four essential elements: concepts, skills, attitudes, and action. These elements are integrated into six subject areas: language arts, social studies, fine arts, mathematics, science & technology, and personal, social, and physical education.

The IB PYP promotes international-mindedness while also fostering children's understanding of their own cultural and national identities. Moreover, it cultivates a positive attitude toward learning by encouraging students to pose challenging questions, engage in critical reflection, develop research skills, learn how to learn, and participate in community service. In line with the spirit of internationalism, students are introduced to a second language; at Jones-Farrar IB World School, students learn Spanish.

With approximately 50 teachers and staff across 17 classrooms, Jones-Farrar is equipped with a gym and an inquiry center. The school boasts an active and dedicated Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), which provides continuous support to our students and teachers throughout the year.
