Community Unit School District 303 encompasses a comprehensive K-12 public education system spanning 57 square miles (150 km2) in the Fox Valley, situated 40 miles (64 km) west of Chicago.

The district serves approximately 13,590 students hailing from the City of St. Charles and sections of West Chicago, South Elgin, Wayne, Campton Hills, a small portion of Elgin, and unincorporated Kane County.

History of District 303

Originally, school districts were delineated along township boundaries in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. However, legislative changes in 1946-47 encouraged the consolidation of these districts. In 1949, Community Unit School District 303 was established through a successful referendum, merging High School District 150, Elementary District 87, and Little Woods District 79.

Following a subsequent alteration in state law that phased out two-year high schools, voters served by the Wasco two-year high school program opted to consolidate with District 303 in 1950.

Schools in District 303

The district operates 11 elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools, catering to approximately 13,590 students. Both high schools are members of the DuKane Conference for athletics.
