Oakbrook Terrace Tower, an impressive octagonal 31-story office building, was designed by Helmut Jahn and completed in 1986. Standing as the tallest building in Illinois outside of Chicago's city limits, it is presently owned by Edward Napleton, president of the Ed Napleton Automotive Group. The tower, reaching a height of 418 feet (127 m), offers a sprawling 773,000 square feet (71,800 m2) of office space. Despite persistent rumors and news reports alleging leaning or sinking, the tower remains an iconic landmark, occupying the former site of Dispensa's Kiddie Kingdom and Castle of Toys. Adjacent to the Oakbrook Terrace Tower lies Drury Lane, a prominent theater and conference center. Featuring a grand 2,000-seat banquet hall and a 971-seat theater, this venue hosts a variety of events, including wedding receptions, corporate meetings, trade shows, live theater performances, and concerts. The complex also houses a Hilton Suites Hotel and Hilton Garden Inn. Oakbrook Terrace is also home to the headquarters of Redbox and the Joint Commission, an organization responsible for accrediting healthcare entities across the United States.
