Community Areas In Chicago
The City of Chicago is divided into 77 community areas for statistical and planning purposes, which assist the urban planners on both local and regional levels. The community areas are often comprised of smaller neighorhoods. The community areas were orginally defined by the Social Science Research Committee at the University of Chicago in the 1920's based on neighborhoods or groups of related neighborhoods.
