Grading and Curriculum

Maine East High School employs a comprehensive grading system. District 207 reports both weighted and non-weighted grade point averages on transcripts. All courses are graded on a four-point scale. Accelerated and Advanced Placement (AP) courses receive an additional bonus point, reflected in the weighted GPA. Driver Education does not factor into the GPA, while Physical Education counts in the non-weighted GPA. Pass/NP (Pass/No Pass) courses do not impact the GPA. However, starting with the spring semester of 2020, a grade listed as "NG" (No Grade) provides no credit and has no GPA impact.

In the 2019-20 school year, Maine Township District 207 transitioned to an integrated math curriculum. This approach focuses on content standards in the domains of Algebra, Functions, Geometry, Number and Quantities, and Statistics. All grades received in the integrated math program are unweighted.
